Production Manager – CNC Machining

Location: Chicopee, MA

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee manufacturing operations across all three shifts at the Chicopee facility. This role is responsible for production planning, team leadership, safety, quality, cost control, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining and precision manufacturing, preferably within the aerospace, power generation, or turbine components industry.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager will lead shift Tech Leads, optimize production performance, and drive continuous improvement across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily CNC machining operations for turbine airfoils, seals, diaphragms, and related components across all three shifts.
\n
• Supervise, coach, and develop shift Tech Leads; ensure effective shift handoffs and consistent communication.
\n
• Develop and manage production schedules in coordination with Planning, Sales, Engineering, and other departments.
\n
• Monitor key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, machine utilization/OEE, scrap, rework, labor efficiency, and safety.
\n
• Partner with Quality Assurance to resolve nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
\n
• Coordinate with Maintenance to improve machine uptime, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability.
\n
• Work with Supply Chain and Purchasing to ensure the availability of raw materials, tooling, and fixtures.
\n
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
\n
• Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve throughput, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
\n
• Manage staffing, overtime, shift coverage, hiring, training, performance reviews, and employee relations.
\n
• Ensure accurate production documentation and timely data entry in ERP/MRP systems.
\n
• Report production performance, staffing, and operational issues to the General Manager.
\n
• Maintain a hands-on shop-floor presence across shifts, including occasional off-hours and weekend coverage.
\n

Ideal Candidates

\n
• 7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience in CNC machining, preferably in aerospace, power generation, or precision turbine component manufacturing.
\n
• 3+ years of experience managing multi-shift production operations , ideally in a 24/7 or near-continuous manufacturing environment.
\n
• Experience supervising team leads or frontline supervisors and developing leadership talent.
\n
• Strong knowledge of CNC multi-axis milling, turning, tooling, and precision-machined components.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
\n
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems and formal nonconformance and corrective action processes.
\n
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, or value stream mapping.
\n
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
\n
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
\n

Education

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
\n
• Equivalent manufacturing leadership experience may be considered in place of a degree.
\n
