Transportation Engineer
\nEngineering Design Source, Inc. (EDSI) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Transportation Engineer to support the planning, analysis, and design of transportation projects. This position will focus primarily on roadway design projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Local Public Agencies (LPAs).
\n \nThe successful candidate will have 3-7 years of experience and a strong interest in technically detailed design work. This role requires regular interaction with clients, consultants, contractors, utilities, and public agencies, as well as the ability to resolve design challenges that may involve field investigations. Strong communication and technical writing skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary design team.
\n \nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
\nResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following transportation planning and design tasks:
\n•Roadway design and rehabilitation
\n•ADA‑compliant facility design
\n•Bicycle and pedestrian trail design
\n•Traffic signal design
\n•Geometric layout development
\n•Drainage and hydraulics design
\n•Quantity calculations and cost estimating
\n•Coordination with utilities and public agencies
\n•Supporting design issue resolution during project development and construction
\n \nPOSITION DETAILS:
\nLocation: Chicago, IL; Remote work arrangements may be considered.
\nDepartment: Roadway
\nSchedule: Full-time; hybrid work-from-home schedule (minimum of 3 days in-office)

\nLicensing:
\nIllinois Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EI (required)
\n \nExperience:
\n• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
\n•Mid-level with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply
\n•Experience completing State DOT projects, particularly MoDOT and/or IDOT is preferred
\n \nEducation: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited institution (minimum)
\n \nSoftware Proficiency (Minimum):
