Surgical Technician Role

Schedule: PRN - 24 hours per 6 week schedule

Hours: 5a-5p or 5p-5a

Call: 12 hours per 6 week schedule

Holiday: One Summer and One Winter

Additional Info: OB unit, in addition to the surg tech duties, our techs function as registration, room turn over, Pct duties and are hands on with infant care.

Overview

Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more.

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• <2 years or military equivalent experience

Supervisor Experience

• No Experience

Preferred Requirements

Education

• Accred Surgical Program

Licenses & Certifications

• Surgical Technician
